| Welcome to the Forest Area Chamber of Commerce. Located
in Scott County in the heart of central Mississippi, Forest
is one of the region’s most progressive small towns.
The Chamber of Commerce takes an active role in the continuing
effort of ensuring that the Forest/Scott County area remains
a growing community with economic stability, thriving business-industry,
good schools, and affordable housing. For over a century,
our Chamber has worked with business and community leaders
to improve the quality of life for everyone, and our goal
is to continue to move our community forward in the 21st
Century.
Forest is known throughout the state for its small town charm,
beauty, hospitality, and caring people. Whether you are visiting,
new to the area, or an “old timer,” we welcome
you!
Forest, the county seat of Scott County, was chartered
in November 1865 by the Mississippi State Legislature. Its
name was derived from the dense pine forest,
which surrounded the site. Located in central Mississippi at the intersection
of I-20 and Highway 35, Forest is home to such corporations as Lady Forest
Farms, Raytheon Company Systems, Inc., Unipres Southeast
USA, Inc., and Tyson Foods;
yet, it retains the charm and friendliness of the South.
This is a town where family values are cherished, education
is priority, and the quality of life is exceptional. Gaddis
Park, the Scott County Livestock
Coliseum, Bo Clark baseball field, and nearby state parks provide a variety
of recreational
opportunities. Residents also enjoy plays, musicals, and art shows sponsored
by Forest Community Arts. We invite you to join the good folks in Forest.
It’s
a great place to live!
